The Good and The Bad About The New York Knicks’ Big 3 So Far

The New York Knicks are off to a 4–5 start to the year. They do what they need to do to stay close in every game, but why do they have a losing record? Yes, it is early, but never too early to make conclusions…especially in the NBA.

Jalen Brunson: I mean it when I say he might be the best basketball player on this Knicks team. He is always calm, he’s fearless at the rim, and he is a leader. Not only can he score himself (19.3 PPG), but he gets everyone else involved (7.2 APG) and runs an amazing offense. Brunson is the true PG that the Knicks have needed and has added some much appreciated speed on the offensive side of the basketball.

RJ Barrett: One thing I was worried about with Barrett coming into this season was bis efficiency. He has shown he can get hot, but boy has he shown that he can get cold too. RJ (19.3 PPG) is a big dude. He can drive with just about anybody to the rim, and make it look good too, but the finishing has been his problem. It is too often we see a missed open three or a layup too strong off the backboard. He clearly has a passion for the Knicks and wants to win games, but he must be more consistent and efficient.

Julius Randle: It seems that whenever he does something great, something bad comes too. His size, speed, and toughness are unique in todays NBA. His talent is extremely evident as we saw when he averaged close to 25 points two years ago. Julius looks happier and is more confident shooting the ball, which are two great signs for the Knickerbockers, but he needs to make more shots. Shooting only 24 percent from three is not ideal, but he has been a beast in the paint and grabbing boards. It’s not that I have an issue with how Randle plays, but he can slow down the offense, which Brunson does a great job of picking it up again.
