Hayden Shapiro’s Postseason 2024 NFL Mock Draft; Three QB’s go in Top 4 Selections
By Hayden Shapiro
We have reached the conference championships! That means two things.
- We will find out the Super Bowl winner very soon.
2. Mock Draft season ramps up!
Here is my postseason Mock. Leave any feedback down below, enjoy, and as always, Stay Cool.
- WSH (Trade w/ CHI) — Caleb Williams, QB USC
With new ownership and a new coach, all signs point to Washington making a splash. Williams grew up in the DC area and fits almost any scheme thrown his way. His ceiling is sky high, leading to the Commanders jumping up and snagging him here at one.
2. CHI (Trade w/ WSH) — Marvin Harrison Jr, WR Ohio St
Harrison Jr’s body control and ability to come down with contested catches is just something you don’t see from prospects. He is far and away the best player in this draft and will be an impact player from day one at the next level. If the Bears do indeed opt to stick with Fields, this gives him a certified weapon on the outside.
3. NE — Jayden Daniels, QB LSU
Daniels’ Heisman season was nothing short of spectacular. His pinpoint accuracy and ability to extend plays make him New England’s choice here at three. No more Bill Belichick means they broaden their horizon and take a different kind of QB, one who can make tough throws and use his legs, something we haven’t seen in a Patriots uniform. I really am liking the idea of this fit in New England; I can almost see the headlines now.
4. ATL (Trade w/ ARI) — Drake Maye, QB UNC
Atlanta says they have had their eyes on every QB in the class, which makes me think that they are bound to make a move. Here, they move up to four and take a polished, accurate, and confident QB in Drake Maye. His pocket awareness is amazing, and he is not afraid of taking a hit, two things scouts love to see in rookie signal callers.
5. LAC — Rome Odunze, WR Washington
The Chargers need to make some financial decisions at the wideout position. Mike Williams can’t stay on the field and Keenan Allen is getting up there in age. With the signing of Jim Harbaugh, I think Justin Herbert is about to have an MVP type season, so why not add some more firepower outside? Odunze can bring down contested catches with the best of them, but really excels after the catch. He can line up anywhere, but with Keenan rocking the slot position, Odunze fits right in outside. I really like this fit for LA, and it gives Herbert even more options.
6. NYG — Malik Nabers, WR LSU
The Giants are in such an interesting position. On paper, they really aren’t that bad. They have two young tackles, and in my opinion, they can’t give up on Evan Neal yet. So here at six they give Daniel Jones one more weapon. Nabers is the most explosive wideout in the class and I think he is going to really impress at the combine. If this is the last shot for Danny Dimes, why not give him all the help he needs?
7. TEN — Brock Bowers, TE Georgia
This fit is so perfect. I know, I know, they need O-Line help, but this is such a flashy pick for new coach Brian Callahan and gives Will Levis a great safety net. Bowers literally has no position, he lines up everywhere, he is a phenomenal blocker, and has hands like glue. He also can do some damage after the catch. He is going to help the pass game and the run game. This Titans offense just gets that much more dynamic with the addition of a player like Bowers.
8. ARI (Trade w/ ATL) — Olu Fashanu, OT Penn St
This is the absolute best-case scenario for the Cardinals. They trade down, gain some draft compensation, and in effect land the guy they would have taken at four. Fashanu has heavy hands and a strong frame. He is very good in pass protection and can plow smaller rushers over on run blitzes. This also allows AZ to get off of DJ Humpries’ massive contract. This pick and trade down is just logical, I love it.
9. CHI — Dallas Turner, EDGE Alabama
Turner’s high motor is going to be really intriguing to scouts. He seems to be involved in every play watching his Bama tape. He fits perfectly on the other side of a OLB core that includes Montez Sweat, who is coming off of a career year. This Chicago pass rush begins to look better and better. They blitz a lot but didn’t get home. Turner will change this. Nice snag here at nine.
10. NYJ — Joe Alt, OT Notre Dame
Alt is very good in pass protection but lacks strength in the run game. He is going to instantly improve this Jets line though. His tall frame and heavy hands allow the quarterback to step up in the pocket, as Alt pushes his matchup outside. I think the Jets will for sure go O-Line here, but which tackle they take is still up in the air. He will immediately help Rodgers and this absolutely abysmal offensive line that has dealt with constant injury, along with poor performance.
11. MIN — Laiatu Latu, EDGE UCLA
Latu is my favorite defensive prospect in the class. If his health checks out, he could very well end up being a top five pick. His versatility to play standing up or with his hand in the dirt is so appealing, and his unreal power moves are music to scouts ears. Latu has perfected the push-pull at just 22 years old and lands with Minnesota in this mock, a team who blitzes a TON, but never gets to the QB, something that will change if they do indeed get Latu here at 11.
12. SEA (Trade w/ DEN) — Jer’Zhan Newton, DT Illinois
Newton plays with his hair on fire. Always moving at 100% and wreaking havoc on opposing lines. He fits perfectly into this hybrid Seattle 3–4 scheme. He gets added to a group that already consists of Leonard Williams and Jarran Reed, this front 7 is going to be a nightmare to gameplan for.
13. LVR — Brian Thomas Jr, WR LSU
Is this a bit of a reach? Yes, but Vegas needs to surround whoever is throwing the ball for them next season with more firepower, and that is what Thomas brings. He was often in the shadow of Nabers as a Tiger, but his ability to create separation from defenders inside the numbers is pretty impressive. He doesn’t have blazing speed or a crazy frame, but he is a sound, technical wideout who will fit in from day one at the next level.
14. NO — Byron Murphy II, DT Texas
Murphy has absolutely shot up boards lately, and for good reason. His high motor leads to him ending up in the backfield on what seems like every play. This Saints defense gets even better with this selection.
15. IND — Kool-Aid Mckinstry, CB Alabama
Indy needs major help in the secondary and starting with my number one corner certainly helps. Mckinstry’s aggressiveness on the ball is really going to help him succeed at the next level. He takes very calculated risks, but he is quick enough to get back and make a tackle if it doesn’t go his way. He is the most pro ready corner in the class and will be an immediate impact player for the Colts, especially in a secondary that started five different corners last season.
16. DEN (Trade w/ SEA) — Terrion Arnold CB Alabama
The second corner off the board also comes from Bama. Arnold plays with a nasty attitude. His long arms allow for him to shadow wideouts. Denver has one shutdown corner in PS2, but the other side of the field has been an issue. Arnold plays with his head on a swivel and isn’t afraid to make tackles. I think this fit is perfect. This secondary gets even more difficult to throw against, and he has the making of a good pro, especially if he learns from Surtain. Long arms + the ability to tackle = a scout's dream for a CB prospect.
17. JAX — Kamari Lassiter, CB Georgia
Lassiter, as I have mentioned before, is probably the most electric defender in the class. He can line up in the slot given his tackling ability. He plays so much bigger than he is, always going 110%. Lassiter is going to succeed at the next level, and dare I say he ends up being the steal of the draft. He turns his hips very fast and can jump routes like a pro. Great add here for the Jags.
18. CIN — Keon Coleman, WR Florida St
The Bengals have a decision to make about Tee Higgins, who has been good, but has struggled staying healthy. No matter what happens with that, Coleman is a big bodied wideout who can go up and grab contested catches but has a nice ability after the catch as well. That’s something Higgins does not possess. Coleman and Chase would be a real nice duo for Joe Burrow.
19. LAR — JC Latham, OT Alabama
Latham falling down here is a best-case scenario for the Rams. They need help on the line, especially blocking the run. Latham adds a heavy frame, and he gives LA some nastiness, hog mauler type attitude on the line.
20. PIT — Cooper DeJean, Iowa
DeJean is so much fun. He can line up outside, at safety, and even in the box. His tackling ability is special, but it doesn’t take away from his effectiveness in coverage. Pittsburgh adds to their defense, which was actually quite impressive last year given how young of a group it is. The Iowa product adds some versatility to this Steeler’s defense.
21. MIA — Jared Verse, Florida St
Verse has such a wide range of where he could end up. Many people have him as their number one EDGE, which I do not disagree with, but in this mock, he slips way down. With that being said, his ability to consistently get into the backfield is special. His is a TFL machine. If he can add some more pass-rush moves to his repertoire, he is going to be a star in this league.
22. PHI — Kamren Kinchens, S Miami
Kinchens has a knack for finding the ball. He is a true ballhawk and adds some juice to an Eagles secondary that was quite bad last season. No matter how deep Kinchens lines up, he seems to get to the ball and deflect or pick it off. Really perfect fit here in Philly for the ex-Hurricane.
23. HOU — Chop Robinson, EDGE Penn St
Chop has all of the tools to be a superstar in this league, but his frame worries me. His speed is quite frankly unfair. He gets off the line in such a hurry and seems to be involved in every play. I think he could go higher than this, but health concerns affect his draft prowess. He has mastered the swim move and is very smart. He sets the edge on outside runs very strongly; I really think he is going to succeed at the next level if he can stay healthy.
24. DAL — Troy Fautanu, OG Washington
Fautanu was amazing this season. He did not allow one sack and very few pressures. He fits best as a guard in the league, and Dallas snags him here late in the first. I think this is a great value pick for the Boys. Someone who can start right away or sit behind a guy for a year, I believe Fautanu has all the tools needed to succeed in the NFL.
25. GB — Taliese Fuaga, Oregon St
Fuaga is absolutely massive and extremely powerful. He is a force in the run game and will slide in at either tackle spot in Green Bay.
26. TB — Bo Nix, QB Oregon
The departure of Dave Canales leads to many questions, but the main one being, will Tampa stick with Baker? Selecting a guy like Bo Nix, a guy who can sit a year or two and learn, really benefits the Bucs down the line.
27. ARI — Xavier Worthy, WR Texas
Worthy is so fast and fits this high-powered offense very well. He stretches the field but can also be used in screens and sweeps. Him and Kyler would be a deadly speed combo.
28. BUF — Ennis Rakestraw Jr, CB Mizzou
Rakestraw has shot up boards given his aggressiveness and no fly zone attitude. He possesses all the skills of an outside corner, somewhere Buffalo has struggled to stay healthy.
29. KC — Xavier Legette, WR South Carolina
This fit is too perfect to not mock. It may be a reach, but Legette’s ability after the catch is special. He is going to be a shiny new gadget player for this KC offense.
30. DET — Chris Braswell, EDGE Alabama
Braswell is all over the field all the time. He has a plethora of rush moves, but also makes a difference in the run game. This is such a Dan Campbell pick.
31. SF — Amarius Mims, OT Georgia
Mims is a versatile, huge, aggressive tackle. He can play inside and out, and mauls in the run game. Really sweet fit for this run heavy San Fran offense.
32. BAL — Nate Wiggins, CB Clemson
Long arms and great ball skills. The only reason he falls is his awful tackling, but that is not to take away from his shutdown ability. Whenever he was tested, he answered. Nice pick up here for B-More late in the first round.
Make sure to be on the lookout for more mocks because I promise you, they are coming!
